Tackling all forms of violent crime, including the most serious forms of violence, is a key priority for Greater Manchester’s Deputy Mayor Baroness Beverley Hughes. Whilst it is clearly important for appropriate enforcement action to be taken against people who perpetrate violent offences, the Deputy Mayor also recognises the importance of an approach that values and invests in prevention and early intervention to tackle the root causes of violence as well as the acts of violence themselves. The Deputy Mayor is also keen to hear from communities about the problems they see in their local areas and to work with communities from a place-based approach to find solutions to these problems.
The VCSE sector has a crucial role to play in all of these areas and with that in mind, we would like to invite your organisation to attend a Serious Violence Summit taking place 13:30 to 16:00 on Monday 15th July at St. Thomas Centre. Further details including an agenda will be circulated nearer the time, but this is an opportunity for you to hear our vision to tackle serious violence in Greater Manchester, as well as for you to share examples of good practice and flag any issues or problems that you are seeing within your communities, partnerships and with your client groups.
To book your place, please click on the 'Register Now' button at the top or bottom of this page. Should the event become fully booked, you will automatically placed on a waiting list in the event of any cancellations.
Please note, as this event is likely to be very popular, only one delegate place can be offered to each VCSE organisation in order to ensure that as many organisations can attend as possible from across GM. Multiple registrations from the same organisation will be rejected.
